Play Area
This exciting facility was opened in March 2001, and since has accrued more than 1000 members who visit on a regular basis to use our excellent Adventure Play Equipment and to experience the delights of our 'Talking' litter bins. Many children how take advantage of our all weather sports pitch, participate in coaching sessions on a regular basis.
In November 2002 the Delves Lane Community Association Play Area was presented with a green pennant. This prestigious award is given to green spaces that are judged to be child friendly and help to enhance the environment.
£16,000 per annum is needed to cover the salaries of one full time and one part time site supervisor. Therefore in September 2002 an appeal was launched to find this neccessary revenue. Various fund raising activities took place including a six mile sponsored walk, a broth and bingo evening, a weekly letter draw, as well as "cry for help" letters sent to many funding organisations. By May 2003 the appeal fund had reached the target of £16,000.
In July 2003 Barratts - Housing Developers generously donated a gift of £32,000 to the appeal, securing the play areas future untill at least 2005, the appeal however still continues to ensure the future of this amazing facility.
